White Hat Charity Events Cheque Presentation

White Hat Charity Events Cheque Presentation at Infosecurity Europe

When: Tuesday 5th June, 13:00

Where: Keynote Theatre, Olympia Conference Centre (Hammersmith Road entrance)

This session included the official cheque presentations to Childline and Barnardo's for White Hat charity events from across the past year. The White Hat Rally (WHR) and White Hat Ball (WHB) are both Infosec community fundraising events dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people in the UK.

The events are organised by an ever-growing volunteer team of senior IT security and risk management professionals from end-user and vendor organisations who, in addition to their day job, organise these infosec-community events for their chosen children’s charities, Barnardo’s and the NSPCC. White Hat events are a perfect way for the Infosec community to ‘give back’, raising much needed funds for protecting our vulnerable younger generation.

White Hat Rally, a 3 day ‘treasure-hunt style’ driving challenge in its 10th year, is committed to driving awareness and raising money to provide vital lifelines to educate kids about digital dangers. The White Hat Rally is a super ‘infosec’ networking event that raises money for Barnardo’s work with safeguarding and supporting young people and children, at risk of, or victims of cyber- abuse, online grooming and sexual exploitation.

Last year White Hat Rally raised upward of £50k for this vital work through corporate sponsorship of the event and through rally team participation.

White Hat Ball presented a cheque of £213,000 to Childline to fund the helpline enabling over 53,000 calls from children to be answered, children who may have nowhere else to turn.

Sincere and wholehearted thanks to everyone who attended, participated with such enthusiasm and contributed so generously.
