Tech Talks

The growing number of people and companies falling victim to ransomware attacks highlights the need for an endpoint defence that can stop and recover from ransomware's destructive behaviour. This presentation introduces Redemption, a novel research-based security technology that makes the operating systems more resilient to ransomware attacks with minimal modifications to the OS.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. An understanding of the threat posed by ransomware in 2017 given continually improved evasion techniques
  2. Knowledge of where malware-detection is lacking, and how Redemption can help to remedy this
  3. How endpoint defences can help to fight ransomware attacks
  4. How a detailed understanding of known ransomware behaviours can help researchers prevent or block attacks
  5. An understanding of how cryptographic primitives make reverse engineering a ransomware much more difficult
