The cloud has enabled increases in agility and cost savings in IT, but has allowed employees to buy and provision out-of-policy cloud infrastructure without approval from IT and security staffs. Existing cloud security solutions, such as CASBs, weren't designed for this problem and can only see and protect the cloud accounts they know about. This leads to systematic gaps in visibility and control of cloud infrastructure across complex organisations. In this talk, Dr. Tim Junio, CEO of Expanse, will present cases studies on how to discover and bring previously unknown parts of the cloud under central management and control, and discuss techniques and best practices to discover rogue cloud assets sooner and help prevent them from ever being created.

Learning Outcomes:

  1. Understand how the move to the cloud has made it harder for security teams to enforce IT policies in the cloud
  2. See why existing tools can't solve this problem
  3. Learn what can actually be done to discover and and bring previously unknown parts of the cloud under central management and control
  4. Learn how to discover rogue cloud assets sooner
  5. Learn what techniques can prevent cloud assets from being created in the first place
