Threats to information and cyber security are all around us — but so too are the people, the ideas, the resilience and the will to protect our shared future.
Now more than ever, Resilience has become a vital part of information security. As the world around us transform, we must still be focused on threat detection and prevention, but we also need a plan for adapting to an adverse event – whether it's a malicious attack, a global pandemic, or simply a human error.
Resilience is about surviving inevitable attacks and business continuity. It’s about being prepared for the unexpected. As threats adapt and evolve and we accept that systems will be compromised, it’s no longer enough to have strong defences in place. The sophisticated tools and techniques of bad actors will find a way around them. Organisations, their architecture, systems, policies and strategies, need to be resilient, able to cope, recover and learn from incidents.
Our sector as a whole needs to be resilient – bringing in talent and skills to tackle new and emerging risks and challenges – embracing diversity in all its forms to find, nurture and train professionals. Our community needs to work together to share knowledge, learn from each other and get ahead of cyber-criminals.
The goal of our 2021 conference programme was to support you as you defend your organisation, protect the data and privacy of individuals and develop your career. By building resilience across the industry, we will move towards a more secure world.
